These awards are selected by the Kirkland Lake District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors based on the following criteria.
- New Business Award
is awarded to a business who has opened in the last five years and who demonstrates the qualities of the five above categories.
- Veteran Business Award
is awarded to a business who has been open for more than 20 years and demonstrates the qualities of the five above categories.
- Chamber of Commerce Award
is awarded to a business that promotes the civic, commercial, industrial and agricultural interests of this area and to preserve and further the operations of Canada’s private and competitive enterprise system based upon individual freedom of choice and personal initiative and responsibility.
- Young Professional of the Year Award
is awarded to an entrepreneur under 35 years of age who exemplifies community leadership, innovative business skills and has demonstrated outstanding achievement.
- Hometown Award
is awarded to a business owner who was brought up in Kirkland Lake and returned to establish their business in their hometown business community.
